Today I offer a prayer for diligence in all that we do. Whether we’re working, resting, or playing, we’re called to do so diligently. This means putting in deliberate, careful, meaningful effort, and doing things in alignment with God’s commends. Let’s have attitudes like Jesus, full of purpose and determination to serve our Lord and our neighbors.
Father God, our Diligent Creator and Purposeful Lord, You don’t waste effort or time when caring for us. We are made in Your image, and are to be imitators of Jesus, so we ask for Your help to do that. May we work diligently and purposefully, in all that we do, so we may earn honest honest rewards for our efforts. You say you’ll richly supply the souls of those who intentionally serve You and their neighbors, so we will lack nothing in our innermost beings. Thank you for allowing us periods of rest, so we may not grow weary while doing good, and have the strength to never give up when obeying You. You promise our work will never be in vain if what we’re doing is performed in a steadfast manner as a service unto You. When we serve You with the greatest intent we become skilled and garner the attention of those around us, which brings glory to You our King. May we not only work hard in physical tasks, but also in our relationships with You; by lovingly spending time in prayer and scripture we also reap a great reward of rest for our souls in Your presence, which bolsters us in many ways, keeping us from falling. Keeping Your Sabbath holy helps keep our souls blemish free, setting us apart for the work of Your kingdom and the uplifting of Your people. By doing these things we do not need to be ashamed of anything, since we are approved by You for rightly handling Your word and work. May we love You and seek Your favor by intentionally obeying Your words, and pursuing good with all of our might, so we can stand firm and receive the crown of life when difficult times come. Thank you for helping us be diligent with our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls, excelling in grace and mercy, and working heartily for You our Lord God. May our attitudes and efforts be springs of life, blessing our neighbors and You our Creator, with every word and action, until we join You in heaven; Amen.
