Today I offer a prayer for seeking God wholeheartedly. It’s so easy to only seek God when we “need Him”, or in simple/shallow/ritualistic way. It’s harder, though far more meaningful, to seek Him wholeheartedly – praying unceasingly, following the Spirit’s moment-by-moment guidance, and radiating the love of Jesus in every situation are just some of the fruit of being properly rooted in God. We cannot be properly rooted in God if we do not wholly seek Him. This is of course impossible without God’s guidance, and I am nowhere near mastering this skill, so let’s ask God for His help.
Father God, our Magnificent and Glorious Lord, You alone are worthy of being our top priority. May we learn to seek You and Your kingdom first in all situations, craving Your righteousness, so we may receive Your full empowerment for building Jesus’ kingdom on earth. We long to remain fully faithful, believing wholly in Your powerful salvation and drawing as near as we can, so that we may please You and receive Your promises. We confess Father that we are easily distracted by our wily foes, so we proclaim our love for You, diligently seeking Your strength and presence continually, with the expectation You will deliver us from temptation. When we fervently seek You, with all our hearts, You promise that we will find You. You alone are our God, and we earnestly seek You; our souls thirst for You, our bodies faint for You, as we would in a desert without food or water, for You sustain us. We pursue You alone, desiring Your sustaining presence and guidance. We expect that when we seek You, we will receive what You know we need, and when we knock, Your doors will be opened to us. We place our full trust in You, knowing that You will never forsake those of us who truly seek You. When we fail, may we quickly return to You, knowing that You will have compassion on us, abundantly pardoning our sin. May we consistently seek You with our whole hearts, keeping Your commandments, so we will not go astray, and receive a full share of Your future blessings. In the name of Jesus our Savior and King we honor, glorify, praise and obey You, forever and ever, amen.
