Today I offer a prayer for prioritizing God first in our lives. I personally struggle with this every single day. You may think I have mastered this since I spend time in scripture / prayer regularly, however, these morning devotions are often where my daily time with God ends. I pray that I learn to be in consistent relationship with Him throughout the entire day, and that you too will have that experience (if you don’t already).
Father God, our Glorious and Most High Lord, we give thanks for all You are, and all You have done. May our every action and word acknowledge You, and be done in the name of Jesus our Savior, so our paths may be straight. We long to seek Your righteousness first, in all things, and at all times, worshiping You in spirit and truth. When we draw near to You, You draw near to us. Please cleanse our hands and hearts of any sin which draws our attention away from You. Setting our minds on things of sin and flesh leads to death, so we wish to set our minds on You and Your Spirit which leads to life and peace. May we, like Jesus, retreat to quiet places for moments of stillness and prayer, honoring You as our God, and renewing our spirits so we may exalt You throughout all the earth. May we learn to spend consistent time in Your word, which is breathed by You and profitable for teaching, reproof, and training in righteousness, so we may be sure to obey Your word and prosper in Your instruction. Please help us to focus our minds on You, trusting in You at all times, and pouring out our hearts before You, so we may experience Your perfect peace and shelter. Jesus, You are the vine, and we are the branches, so without You we cannot produce any eternal fruit. Just like You we strive to devote ourselves to prayer, seek our Father’s presence and strength, and remain both watchful and grateful. Father, we lift up our neighbors in prayer, in all their struggles and needs, trusting that You will guide and guard all hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. May our moment by moment obedience to You be a sweet offering, and may we receive Your Spirit of peace which surpasses all understanding, so our burdens would be easy and light, both now and always, amen.
