Today I offer a prayer for orienting us toward the kingdom of God. It’s so very easy to become individually focused – investing in our own personal relationship with Jesus. Of course spending alone time with God is critically important, and I don’t wish to detract from that, though it’s not the entire picture. Jesus was others-minded and focused the majority of His energy and time on the people around Him. Let’s spend the personal time we need to with God, and invest our remaining kingdom efforts into those on whom we can have a Christlike influence. Ministering to others is being kingdom-minded and being salt / light in this world.
Father God, our Sovereign King and Glorious Lord, may all Heaven and Earth proclaim Your kingdom. Father we ask that You please mold and shape our hearts to be kingdom-focused, helping Your kingdom come here on earth as it is in heaven. May we seek Your kingdom and righteousness above all other things, and not be anxious or worried about our needs being met. For we know Jesus’ kingdom is not of this world, and it is at hand, so we must repent and believe in Your gospel, behaving as loyal servants, so we may see it. May Your kingdom, which brings righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit be in the midst of us, deep within our hearts. Holy Spirit please help us to proclaim this gospel message and teach about King Jesus with all boldness and without hindrance. Jesus may we find ourselves in Your presence each and every day, for we are blessed by the Father, and wish to inherit the kingdom He prepared for us from the foundation of the world. For You promise that the saints of the Most High shall inherit a great and everlasting kingdom. May we be like the poor in spirit, the sick, and those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven and they experience Your comfort. We praise You for transferring us from the domain of darkness into Your glorious presence, forever and ever, amen.
