Today I offer a prayer to encourage us to encourage others. The older I get the more I realize that we cannot walk through life without the support of those around us. We also should not allow others to walk through life without our support. I’m not sure about you, but a large portion of my joy and fulfillment in life comes from supporting those God allows to cross my path. Remember, that by loving our neighbors we’re also loving God, in whose image they are created.
Father God, our Strong and Mighty Lord, we praise You for placing others in our lives who can encourage and uplift us in times of trouble. With Your Spirit within may we continue to encourage and build each other up, just as we are doing. May we exhort one another every day so none of us would become blinded or lost to the deceitfulness of sin. Spirit please guard our mouths so no damaging talk comes forth, but only timely and appropriate words that build others up and give grace to those who hear. May we continue meeting together as we’re able and encourage each other as the world falls apart around us. May we embrace Your Spirit of power, love and self-control to overcome the devil’s weapon of fear. Evil is powerful in this world, yet Your guardianship, leadership, and Spirit of peace comfort us, preventing our hearts from being afraid or troubled. Therefore may we confess our sins to one another and pray over each other so we may be healed. May the power of our prayers create harmony and encouragement through Your Holy Spirit’s work in our world, and may Jesus’ hand of peace be upon us as we lift each other up. May we hear Your words, remain strong and courageous, not fearful or dismayed. You are with us wherever we go, and in the hearts of other Christ followers. In the holy name of Christ Jesus our Lord we powerfully praise and honor You, forever and ever, amen.
