It has been a difficult week for my family. We had to say goodbye to one of our beloved cats, who was 18.5 years old. This experience had me thinking a great deal about loss, and how to process it. I offer a prayer for all of us who have, or will, suffer loss in this life.
Father God, our Comforter and Strength in Weakness, You are compassionate and loving beyond measure. Thank you for promising that those who mourn will be blessed and comforted. You are near to the brokenhearted, binding up our wounds and saving those crushed in spirit. You are to be praised for You comfort us in our affliction, so we may comfort others in affliction, with the comfort we received from You. One day You will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, there will be no more mourning, crying, or pain, for all those things are temporary. Weeping will last for a night, but with You joy comes in the morning. We do not need to fear, for You are with us; You strengthen and help us, upholding us with Your righteous right hand. Because of Your glorious promises we can consider the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed to us through Jesus and an eternity with You. We honor, praise and glorify You, our Comforter and Strength in Weakness, forever and ever, amen.
