Ezekiel 41

Posted on 2022-12-16 by Conqueror in Training

This chapter describes the angelic being’s measurements of the temple’s ‘nave’ (central, most holy place).

“Then he measured the temple, a hundred cubits long; and the yard and the building with its walls, a hundred cubits long…The inside of the nave… [was] paneled with wood all around, from the floor up to the windows… And on all the walls all around, inside and outside, was a measured pattern. It was carved of cherubim and palm trees… Every cherub had two faces: a human face toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side… in front of the Holy Place was something resembling an altar of wood… He said to me, ‘This is the table that is before the Lord.’ ” (v13, 15-19, 21-22 abr)

The designs of palm trees representing life, and cherubim representing security, were common among the temples and tabernacle mentioned in scripture. These symbols of remind us that God is Provider. The “table that is before the Lord” was likely an altar of incense, which represents the prayers of the people rising up before God.

As we approach this holiday season, I suggest we continue to pray in ways that revere God for who He is – Creator and Provider, Savior and Friend. Let’s remember God sent Jesus to earth in human form, whose death and resurrection provides eternal life and security for all. Let’s praise our Father in Heaven for His wonderous love!

Father God, our Lord of Love and steadfast mercy, Your grace is a generous gift. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for our sin, and for resurrecting Him to provide us with eternal life and security. May we praise Your holy name with every breath. All honor, glory and praise be unto You, forever and ever, amen.
