Today I offer a prayer for knowing God more deeply. In simplest terms, we get to know God the same way we get to know anyone – by investing time into the relationship. Let’s intentionally invest time in this most important relationship, daily, so we are better equipped for the trials of life.
Father God, our True Lord and Absolute Authority, thank you for creating us to glorify You through relationship and love. Please teach us not to boast in anything except in You and that we are Your children, for You practice steadfast love, justice, and righteousness throughout all of the earth. Your word says that eternal life is only possible through knowing You are the only true God, and Jesus Your son was sent to this earth to redeem us. May we also know the power of Jesus’ resurrection, and share in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, so that our souls may be saved from eternal separation from You. Please remind us to not be conformed to this world, but be transformed through Your Holy Spirit who renews our minds, and helps us discern Your will, so we know what is good, acceptable and perfect in Your sight. May we continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is deserving of eternal glory. Thank you for loving those who love You, and revealing Yourself to those who seek You diligently. In seeking to know You, may we dive deeply into Your word, for it’s sharper than any sword, and also lights the path before our feet so we may not stumble. As we seek You with all our hearts, and call upon Your name in prayer, You promise to hear us and reveal Your hope-giving plans for our welfare and future. Thank You for embedding Your commands and Your Spirit in our hearts, and being our God, for we are Your people. May we all know You, and seek Your forgiveness of our sin, so You may remember our sin no more. May we seek You with our whole hearts, and not wander from Your commandments, for as long as we shall live. Amen.
