A Prayer for Those Needing Comfort

Posted on 2022-06-24 by Conqueror in Training

Today I offer a prayer for those who are in need of comfort. All of us encounter heartache in this life. It’s inevitable in this broken, sin-scarred world. Fortunately, God promises healing and comfort to His people.

Father God, our Lord of Healing and Comfort, You are our Great Physician and Friend. Thank you for promising us, Your friends, that we will receive both love and comfort. Your promises give us life, and offer comfort in our affliction. You say that those who mourn shall be blessed and comforted by You, and those broken in spirit will receive Your kingdom. You remind us not to be fearful or discouraged, for You are our God; You strengthen and uphold us, helping us with Your mighty and righteous right hand. Even when we walk through the most difficult and burdensome circumstances imaginable, we don’t need to fear for our well-being, for You are with us; Your compassion and Your gentle leadership comfort us. When we are burdened and have heavy hearts, we can freely approach You and receive rest for our souls. Your ways are gentle and light, full of kindness and compassion, granting us rest from the great difficulties of life. Our Almighty Lord, we can dwell in Your shadow, for we trust in You, our Refuge and Fortress, to deliver us from the pitfalls and great burdens of this world. Thank you for comforting us in our affliction, so we may in turn comfort others in their struggles. You are near to us and others who are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, helping us draw near to You in our lives in accordance with Your purpose. Though we may mourn now, when we see You face to face our hearts will rejoice greatly, and our joy will be eternal. Every tear will be wiped away, pain and sorrow will cease, for death and loss will be no more when these things are removed from us. You will heal our broken hearts, and bind up our wounds, for You are good and merciful, and we shall dwell in Your house forever. We sing for joy, and exult You O Lord, for You have comforted us greatly, both now and forever, amen.
