Today I offer a prayer for consistency. I’m not sure about you, but I sometimes struggle with consistency. For example, there are days where I miss spending time with God, or perhaps I act / speak in a way that is not consistent with how Jesus would act / speak. I have good moments of alignment with the Father, and poor moments that are worldly. Let’s ask for help in remaining consistently aligned with our Lord.
Father God, our Wise Leader and Generous Creator, we are grateful for Your guiding Holy Spirit. Spirit thank you for leading us moment by moment, and helping us to act and speak in alignment with our Father’s teachings. May we be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of our Lord, knowing that our labor for Him is never in vain. Let us never grow weary of those good works, for You promise that if we do not give up, there will be great fruit when the time is right. Thank you for the reminder that nobody can serve two masters (to the best of their ability) at the same time – there will always be favoritism and inequality between the two; may we choose our Father over the masters of this world. Paul tells us that we cannot dine at both the table of demons, and Your table at the same time, nor can we consume what the demons serve will also pursuing the fruit of righteousness – we must choose only one. Therefore, in alignment with Your teachings, may we walk in a manner worthy of Your callings in our lives, holding fast to our hope in You without wavering, for You are faithful to us. May we consistently model Your good works in all that we do for the rest of our lives, just as Jesus Himself was consistent and unchanging. May we work and teach with integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that our enemies would be shamed and You would be glorified. May we develop habits of prayer and service as Daniel did, so our deepening relationships with You would make us whole and complete, lacking in nothing. May we never violate our covenant with You and Jesus our Savior King, conducting ourselves in manners worthy of His gospel, so we may remain firm and steadfast in one Spirit, alongside our coheirs of Christ. To You be all honor, glory, praise, and service, forever and ever, amen.
