This chapter talks about the Lord’s coming salvation / redemption of His people who have become lost, and His faithful messengers who bring the good news to those who need to hear it.
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’ Depart, depart, go out from there; touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of her; purify yourselves, you who bear the vessels of the Lord. For you shall not go out in haste, and you shall not go in flight, for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” (v7, 11-12)
God’s messengers, those who call Him their Lord and King and faithfully obey His calling, are highly regarded by God. We His people have been entrusted with a critical task – going out into the world and speaking the gospel message, the good news that Christ our King has defeated sin and invited us into building His eternal kingdom.
As God’s redeemed children, His faithful messengers, our eternity is secure and nothing in this world shall overcome or destroy our spirits. Let’s remain as faithful as we can, spread the good news, and seek to please our Father in Heaven. It’s impossible to please everyone here on earth, even ourselves, so let’s store up treasure and honor in Jesus’ kingdom instead, which will last for an eternity.
Father God, our Loving and Steadfast Lord, thank you for sending Jesus to pay the penalty for our sin. Thank you for sending Your Spirit to guide and strengthen us on our journeys. Thank you for providing opportunities for us to honor and glorify You by sharing Your good news. Please give us the words to speak, and the love to share, so others may be redeemed into Your kingdom. In the name Jesus we serve You, with all of our hearts, souls, minds, and strength, amen.
