This short yet powerful chapter reads like a psalm. It’s a celebratory song that one might sing at Jesus’ triumphant arrival (the context of ch11). I think I’ll stray from the norm a little bit and rewrite this psalm-like passage in my own words, as a song and prayer of praise to God. Perhaps you would like to read the chapter and do the same using your own words (hint hint).
I give thanks to You, O Lord God my Creator;
Though I deserved only Your anger and wrath,
You relented and turned Your anger to love,
that You may comfort me in times of great struggle.
Jesus, my King and my blessed Redeemer,
I trust You with my life, and I will not fear this world;
For You O Lord are my strength, my shield, and my song
and You Jesus have become my salvation, my only hope.
With great joy I give thanks to You O Lord,
with all of my being I call upon Your holy name;
I will testify of Your mighty deeds to all those who hear me,
and exalt Your name to all people.
I sing praises to You my Lord, for You are glorious in deed;
I will make Your greatness known to the whole world.
I shout, and sing for joy as one of Your beloved children,
for Your indwelling presence is magnificent beyond expression.
All honor, glory, and praise, be unto You O God, forever and ever, amen.
