Today I offer a prayer on the advent / Christmas Eve theme of adoration. What better time to praise our Lord God than on the eve of the calendar day on which we celebrate the birth of Jesus?
Father God, our Glorious Lord who is mighty in deeds, and overflowing with excellent greatness, we praise You in Your sanctuary and within Your mighty heavens. We praise You with the sound of instruments and dancing, for You are deserving of our praise. We love You with all of our hearts, our souls, and our minds, for You have given us great hope through the birth of Jesus. At His name would every knee on earth and in heaven bow, for He is the radiance of Your glory and the exact imprint of Your nature. Jesus upholds the the universe by the word of His power, and is seated at Your right hand on high. There is salvation through nobody else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved, for Jesus has been exalted and given the name above every other name. Through Him let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to You O Lord, acknowledging Your name with the fruit of our lips. We praise You with our mouths in the midst of the crowds. We give thanks to You O Lord, for Your steadfast love endures forever. Let us worship and bow down, kneeling before You our Maker. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and the earth is Yours. May we exalt You as head above all, for riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all. Let us make a joyful noise in praise to You, may we serve You with gladness in our hearts! May we enter Your presence and gates with thanksgiving, and Your courts with praise! We give thanks to You O Lord, and bless Your holy name, for You are good and Your steadfast love endures forever, and Your faithfulness to all generations. To You who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb beside You, be all blessing, and honor, and glory, and might, forever and ever, amen!
