Today I offer a prayer about mercy. God is love, and mercy is an extension of His love. It is God’s mercy that allows us to be forgiven of our sin and become coheirs with Christ.
Father God, our Gracious and Loving Lord, You are holy, righteous and just beyond compare. You O Lord, being rich in mercy, and because of Your great love for us, You saved us and made us alive together with Jesus by Your grace when we were still dead in our sin. You made it possible for us to draw near to Your throne of grace and receive mercy and help in our times of need. You say judgement without mercy is due to someone who shows no mercy, so may we learn to be merciful as You are merciful, so mercy will triumph over our judgement. You, O Lord, are forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all of us who call upon your name. Your steadfast love never ceases; Your mercies never end, they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness our Sovereign God. According to Your great mercy You have raised Jesus from the dead and allowed us to be born again into a living hope. We bless You Loving Father, and Jesus Christ our Redeeming King, forever and ever, amen.
