Life is challenging right now. Gathering sizes are severely limited where I live, and we are being strongly discouraged from visiting anyone outside of our households. That being said, community is something that’s weighing on my heart right now, so I offer a prayer of encouragement for that.
Father God, our Magnificent and Benevolent Lord, You are gracious and merciful beyond compare. Father we cry out to You in this difficult time. You charge us with stirring one another up in love and good works, and encouraging one another, yet we are unable to meet together in person, so it’s a challenge to do this from a distance. We are told two or three are better than one, and that a threefold cord is not quickly broken, yet some of us live alone and aren’t able to hug our loved ones. You also tell us that where two or more gather in Your name You are among them, though not all of us have a means of connecting with other Christ followers. You command us to love our neighbor as ourselves, yet we must keep them at a physical distance. Paul tells us there should be no division in the body, that the members must care for one another, for if one suffers we all suffer together, or if one rejoices we all rejoice together, though our means of doing these things is severely limited to technological connections. Despite all of these challenges Father, we praise You for the hope and promises that we do have. May we walk in the light as You are the Light, and have fellowship with each other through whatever means we have available, being united by the blood of Jesus which cleansed us all from sin. You have made us the light of the world, a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. Father please help our light to shine through the darkness, so brightly that no physical distance can stop it, and all would see our good works and give glory to You our Father. By remaining united in You Father we retain our saltiness and bring flavor to this bland and dry world. We will not go quietly into the night, or let our enemy divide us in spirit. To You we lift all honor, glory and praise, so all may hear our joyous cries, forever and ever, amen.
